Daniel McCuaig, a partner in Cohen Milstein’s Antitrust practice, will speak at the ABA’s Antitrust Law Section Webinar on January 31, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Mr. McCuaig, a former was a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice for more than a decade, will participate in the program, titled “DOJ’s Challenge of Penguin Random House / Simon & Schuster.”
The panel of antitrust thought leaders, economists, and practitioners will address the U.S. Department of Justice’s recent challenge to Penguin Random House’s acquisition of Simon & Schuster, two of the leading book publishers. The Complaint alleges a monopsony theory of harm in that authors would be harmed by reduced compensation for their work. This program will explain the DOJ’s allegations, and participants will discuss the monopsony theory of harm.
