Madeleine Gates is a fellow in Cohen Milstein’s Fellowship Program. In this role, she works on litigation matters spanning the firm’s antitrust, consumer protection, civil rights and employment litigation, human rights, and securities practice groups.
Prior to joining Cohen Milstein, Madeleine was a law clerk for the Honorable Josephine Staton of the United States District Court for the Central District of California the Honorable Sandra Lynch of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Madeleine received a B.A., highest distinction, from the University of Virginia and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where she was an online content editor for Harvard Civil Rights – Civil Liberties Law Review.
During law school, Madeleine was a student attorney and Impact Litigation Director at Prison Legal Assistance Project in Boston, Massachusetts.

UFC MMA Fighters Antitrust Litigation
Cung Le, et al v. Zuffa, LLC, d/b/a Ultimate Fighting Championship (D. Nev.): Cohen Milstein is co-lead counsel in this certified wage suppression class action, representing mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who allege that UFC unlawfully monopolized the MMA market by, among other things, locking up fighters in exclusive contracts and acquiring MMA rivals. On October 23, 2024, the Court preliminarily approved a landmark $375 million settlement.
