Carol Gilden, a partner in our Securities Litigation & Shareholder Practice has been named one of Crain’s Chicago Business Names 2024 Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting & Law.
Scope of work: Carol is a securities litigator at Cohen Milstein with clients including public pension funds, Taft-Hartley pension funds and other institutional investors.
Biggest professional win: Carol represented Seafarers Pension Plan in two parallel shareholder disputes emanating from 737 Max plane crashes, Boeing’s misstatements and mishandling of corporate controls that led to the crashes, and subsequent investigations. Her win established new case law and led Boeing to revise its forum bylaw, allowing stockholders to file exclusively federal derivative claims in the future.
Other contributions: Carol was the first female president of the National Association of Shareholder & Consumer Attorneys. She is also a vice president of the Institute for Law & Economic Policy.
